Play tapes and CDs of favourite pieces of music or those with specific relevance, such as music that was danced to, played at the person’s wedding, or popular at the time of a first date. Then talk about it and any associated memories about people or places that it evokes.

Visual

Photographs from family albums, or books of old pictures of the town where the person lived or grew up can be useful here. Old movies or newsreels can also be a good way to start reminiscences of a period of their lives that a person most remembers.
